- Mikri Mantineia (15’): With impressive white pebbles and deep waters. Ideal for families and young people, full of taverns right on the water.
- Santova (15’): The beach with the characteristic yellow fine sand. That’s where the “heart” of summer beats with parties and young people until sunset.
2. The Most Impressive Beaches of Mani (30 – 50 Minute Drive)

- Foneas Beach: A small, hidden natural bay with turquoise waters, large white pebbles and the characteristic huge rock in the middle, which is used as a natural “dock” for diving (and provides natural shade). It is not very organized, so bring water.

- Kalogria Beach (Stoupa): Perhaps the most famous organized sandy beach in Mani (this is where Kazantzakis wrote his work “The Life and State of Alexis Zorbas”). White sand, shallow waters (an excellent choice for children), but huge crowds in August.
- Pantazi: Large and organized beach near the picturesque Agios Nikolaos, which stands out because it combines dark gray sand with fine pebbles.
3. Exotic Landscape in the Pylos Area (50 – 70 Minute Drive)
If you head towards the Ionian Sea (from the other side of the prefecture), the landscape changes dramatically, reminiscent of exotic islands.
- Voidokilia (60’): The trademark of Messinia. A completely round, almost perfect circular beach with pure white sand (like powder), enclosed between sand dunes and the protected lagoon of Gialova. It has absolutely no organization (umbrellas, etc.) due to being a Natura 2000 area, however the spectacle and swimming are a lifetime experience.
- Chrysi Akti (Divari – 50’): A huge, long, open sandy beach just before Voidokilia, with organized beach bars but also huge stretches for those who want autonomy.
- Romanou & Petrochori (60’): Just behind and north of the sand dunes of Voidokilia are these two beaches. Huge, with more “wild” beauty, waves, perfect sand and wonderful beach restaurants.

Advice for Visitors to Messinia
As you can see, the distances are short (max 1 hour), but the directions are completely different (Mani to the east/south, Pylos to the west).
