1. Messinian Mani (Kardamyli – Stoupa – Agios Nikolaos)
The road trip of a lifetime (Distance: 35km | Time: 45’)
Driving at the foot of the imposing Taygetos mountain, the road literally hangs over the sea.
What you will see: Start early with breakfast in the stone-built manor village of Kardamyli and tour its towers.
Tip: Continue for a swim at Kalogria Beach in Stoupa or the hidden beach of Foneas.
Food: End up at the picturesque Agios Nikolaos harbor in the afternoon for fresh fish right by the water.
2. Pylos, Gialova & Voidokilia
The “Costa Rica” of Greece (Distance: 50km | Time: 1 hour)
Move west towards the shores of the Ionian Sea (near the famous Costa Navarino resort).
What you will see: Pylos is built amphitheatrically. Its huge castle (Niokastro) offers a unique view of the Bay of Navarino.
Tip: Continue 15 minutes further to swim at the most beautiful beach in Greece, Voidokilia.
Food: Return to the seaside promenade in the neighboring village of Gialova for dinner at excellent premium restaurants as the sun sets.
3. Methoni Castle & Koroni (The 2 “Eyes” of Venice)
Medieval History in the Sea (Distance: 60km | Time: 1 hour & 15’)
Ideal combination as a continuation of the excursion to Pylos (a little further south).
What you will see: In Methoni, its Castle is perhaps the only one in Greece where a part of it (the Bourtzi) is built in the water, creating an impressive photographic landscape.
Koroni: After Methoni, drive to the opposite side of the peninsula (towards the Messinian Gulf) to see the narrow streets of Koroni that are reminiscent of an Italian neighborhood.
4. Polylimnio: The Jungle of Messinia
Dew in the Gorge (Distance: 40km | Time: 50’)
If you’re tired of the salt of the sea, the impressive Polylimnio Waterfalls are the solution. Since the route involves winding mountain passes and rural terrain, opt for a reliable SUV from our fleet for maximum safety and driving comfort.
What you’ll experience: These are successive (more than 10) small natural lakes that are joined by waterfalls. You can hike to the central lake of “Kadi” and dive into the cold, green-blue waters. Ideal excursion for August!
5. Ancient Messina (Ithomi)
A journey through centuries (Distance: 30km | Time: 45’)
Just a few dozen minutes from Kalamata Airport (North/Inland) lies one of the best-preserved archaeological sites in the country. Unlike other ancient sites, you will walk through a huge, imposing Ancient Theater, the stadium and the public buildings of an entire city.
